The National Certification for Educational Diagnosticians Board of Directors (NCED Board) is aware of various rumors being circulated regarding the scores from recent adminstration of the NCED examination. The NCED Board wants to assure all applicants that there was no change in the mastery level of the NCED exam. The NCED Board met in September 2007 to determine the mastery level. At that time the mastery level was set at 80%. After the examination was administered, 11 items were deleted and all scores were adjusted upward, allowing more applicants to meet the 80% mastery level.

The Standing Rules and By-Laws of the NCED Board gives every applicant who does not pass the examination the opportunity to re-take it the next time it is offered at no extra charge. Therefore, no one has been denied the NCED credential at this time. All of the applicants who did not pass the NCED examination in October 2007 are approved to take the NCED examination when it is next offered at the 2008 CEDS conference in October 2008.
