Renée Calligan, MEd, NCED
In her 18th year in education, Renée is currently employed as an Educational Diagnostician in the Plaquemines Parish School System in south Louisiana. She began her career in education in 1993 with a B.A. (University of New Orleans) in Elementary Education with a concentration in Special Education. She continued to further her education by earning her M.Ed. in Special Education (UNO, 1999), with an add-on certification in Early Intervention, and a Master's +30 degree (UNO, 2003) with a certification in Educational Diagnostics. After 11 years of teaching, she was hired as an Educational Strategist, supporting the parish in implementing the Response to Intervention (RtI) process. A few years later, she was hired to serve on the district's Pupil Appraisal Team as an Educational Diagnostician. Renee is an active member of the Council for Exceptional Children (CEC), Council for Educational Diagnostics Services (CEDS), and has served as the Vice-President for the Louisiana Educational Diagnostician's Association (LEDA) for the past 3 ½ years. In addition to fulfilling her responsibilities as an Educational Diagnostician, Renée serves on the district's Assistive Technology Team and is a certified DIBELS Trainer of Teachers. In 2008, she earned the prestigious honor of becoming a Nationally Certified Educational Diagnostician.
